Week 3
Today we thought about all the people who have been affected by Mary Anning, starting with her nearest and dearest, and spreading out to the children and adults in the modern day who are inspired by Mary’s story and rush to the beaches in Lyme Regis to see if they can uncover a fossil!
This week, the children were imprinting fossil shapes using equipment from around the classroom into tablets of clay that they shaped from the ball of clay they were given.
Week 2
Today we used iPads to draw fossils using the skills we’ve previously learnt during computing lessons about digital media. The children did so well!
This week’s challenge was to direct the Beebot to a specific image on the 6 square grid. This was very challenging indeed but the children worked hard to correct their mistakes and keep on trying until they were successful.
Today in PSHE, the children were learning about some of the internal organs of the human body. They then worked in small groups to place them into the outline of a person. Lots of the children had a go at labelling the different parts too.
In writing this week we have been exploring our text: The lighthouse keepers lunch. The children loved being cheeky seagulls as we sent out lunch down the line to Mr Grinling. Sorry this is blurry but it was an action shot! 🤩
Week 1
In history today, we created a timeline of events from Mary Anning’s incredible life. The children have started to learn key facts about Mary Anning including when she was born, where she grew up and what has made her famous! They have also learnt about the struggles she faced as a female palaeontologist from a poor household at this time in history.
Today in Maths we recapped our measuring skills. We talked about things being heavier and lighter. We also talked about equals would look like and what that meant.
