Week 4
Week 3
We’ve been reviewing our 2-D shape knowledge this week through sorting shapes by their properties. The children described the shapes by the number of straight or curved edges/sides and the number of corners/vertices. We then cut these shapes in half, making sure that we cut our whole into two EQUAL parts!
We started a new writing learning journey this week driven by the text, ‘Traction Man’ by Mini Grey. The children have loved getting to know the story and can now order the main events confidently. At the end of this learning journey, the children will write a diary entry as Traction Man, explaining what adventures were had around the house!
WOW! The snow was such an unexpected but magical surprise! All the children got the chance to play in the fluffy, white snow and we all had a lovely time.
This week, we were creating the texture of fur using paint. We used plastic forks, the pointed end of the paintbrush, and sponges - both the rough and smooth side to see what textures we could make. We were all very excited by the textures we painted!
Week 2
Anti-bulling week.
We loved wearing our odd socks to show that we are all different and all wonderful in our own special way! 🤩
Week 1
In computing this week, we started our new digital media unit of learning. The children created their own version of Piet Mondrian’s abstract art using different tools in the drawing program Paintz. They used the flood tool, they drew straight lines with the line drawing tool and they changed their paint colour using the toolbar. They did so well!
In art, we started our learning journey about toys with a focus on teddy bears! This week, we tried to create the texture of fur using biros, felt tip pens, pencils (both coloured and drawing) and crayons. The children used their drawing equipment in different ways to create different textures.
We have worked hard to practise counting in 2s this week and on Friday we did a fun investigation involving aliens and their legs to apply our learning. Keep practising as much as you can Turtles!
