Week 4
This week we learned about the difference between human-made and natural materials. We were amazed to discover that rubber comes from trees, silk comes from worms and glass is made of sand!
We enjoyed putting our knowledge of freezing and melting to the test by rescuing some frozen toys... we had to figure out how to get the toys out of the ice without smashing it. We used warm water, watering cans and our warm hands to get them out.
In maths we made towers using cubes and noticed that they made a staircase pattern when we put them in the right order. We played a game of 'Who's Hiding?' with our friends by hiding one of the towers and asking them which one was missing.
In PE we made a new dance routine using movements we thought Mr Strong might make with his square body. It was fun to compare our jelly movements to our strong movements - they were very different!
On Wednesday we learned about Christingle. We made our own Christingles using oranges, candles, raisins and a red ribbon, then took them to the church to enjoy a special service.
Other activities we enjoyed this week were: making dragons with junk modelling materials, writing stories and digging for numerals in sand.
