Week 3
This week in Oak Class we had lots of fun with numbers.
We deepened our knowledge of the composition of the number 5 by finding different ways to make it. We used frogs on logs, cubes, Numicon, five frames and die frames.
Some of us wanted to see if we could make the number 100. We explored using lots of tens and discovered that 10 tens made our number!
In our Big Write we talked about stories. We found the beginning, middle and end of The Little Red Hen and then wrote some character speech to match the different parts of the story.
In PE we made different shapes with our bodies and really enjoyed making and performing icicle and jelly dances.
In Discovery Time we painted with ice... this was very messy but it was so exciting watching the paint slowly melt in the warmth of our hands! We also made a meal for the three bears in the mud kitchen. We had to use our maths knowledge to make sure that our bowls were the right size and that we were filling them to the right level for each bear.
Other activities we enjoyed this week were making cheerio towers, creating mini dragon puppets and writing alternative breakfast recipes for Goldilocks.
