Autumn 1
Welcome back
We were so impressed with how well the children have settled straight in to Year 2. During the first couple of days we have been familiarising ourselves with Year 2 routines and reminding ourselves of our values and expectations.
Week 1
Our first full week back, and we are now in full swing. The children have had an amazing week this week. Here are some of our highlights.
Maths
The children enjoyed showing their place value knowledge this week through ordering numbers, showing greater and less than numbers and working out missing numbers on a number line.
Science
The children really enjoyed going on to the field this week when we started our longitudinal study. The children looked for seasonal changes to show summer turning into autumn, evidence of food being stored/eaten in preparation for winter, different habitats and any other signs of life.
PE - Games
The children had fun in the playground practising their hand-eye coordination and controlling skills when given a beanbag. The children experimented with different ways to transport the beanbag balanced on them. We then moved on to balancing the beanbag on our feet and flicking it up into the air and trying to catch it before flicking it in the air for a friend to catch.
