We have been working very hard this week but we have also enjoyed lots of time playing with the snow and ice.
Making some family shields
Learning the names of 3D shapes, building models of them and finding them in our environment.
This week we have been thinking more about castles and dragons. We have made a role play castle in the classroom and a role play castle kitchen outside. We have had lots of fun making food and hosting castle parties.🐉
Some of us had a go at making our own castle and dragon stories.
In Outdoor Explorers we learnt about different birds in winter. We made the birds some apple bird feeders and hung them on the branches of the trees in our field.🌲🌳🕊
We loved making ice decorations in Outdoor explorers. We searched the field for some natural objects and put them in a pot. Then we filled the pot with water and put it in the freezer. We were amazed when it turned into ice. Then we hung them outside. Some of us were a little sad when they melted!
This week in maths we have been learning to combine 2 amounts and find the total. We have practiced this in lots of different ways. We all loved playing bowling.
In phonics we finished off the last phonic sounds and practised reading words. We had to read the words on the stepping stones to cross the river. We also played bingo.
We have been building a castle for our role play area. It is very exciting.
We have also started learning to write. We were writing thank you notes to a dragon. We tried really hard to write words using our phonics sounds. All the adults in the class were really proud of how hard we tried with our writing.
This week we have been thinking about the story of Goldilocks and the 3 bears. We have made our role play area in to the 3 bears cottage and we even had some porridge just like the 3 bears.
In Maths we have been learning what a pair is. We matched pairs of numbers and objects. We even sorted Mrs Burdens socks in to pairs for her!
We wrote the 3 bears shopping list for them.
In music we are learning to keep in time with a steady beat. We practiced this by moving around like a long dragon and playing the instruments in time with the music.
It was great fun learning how to programme a Beebot in discovery time.
Another busy week in Dolphins class.
We did gymnastics in the hall this week. We were trying to make stretched and curled up shapes on the apparatus.
We had great fun in music, moving the parachute in time with the Chinese music.
In phonics we have been making lots of new words with the digraphs we have learnt. Some of the words are real and some are not.
And working as a team to sort the words with digraphs in.
In maths we have been finding out how to make numbers in different ways.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
A bit of a different start to this term but the Dolphins at school have settled back in really well. Everyone was really excited to share what they had for Christmas and tell us all about their Christmas holidays.
We have started a topic on The 3 little pigs. We are thinking about how stories are made and drew pictures of our own stories.
We have really good imaginations!
We have been making correct amounts of biscuits for the 3 little pigs.
We started having handwriting lessons where we learn how to write letters correctly. It’s hard work.
But most of all it’s been good to be back with some of our friends. We miss you Dolphins at home.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
