Head Teacher- Mrs Burden

This week the children have settled in to the routine of their new classrooms. Forest school started for Hazel class, our new year r children have all visited and Sycamore class enjoyed a trip to the field to see the Sycamore trees.

It has been lovely to see our older children taking care of the new children at lunchtimes. They were certainly showing a lot of love and respect. Well done Hazel and Sycamore class.

We have a new collection of balance bikes and pedal bikes arriving next week and so need to get rid of our old bikes. On Monday, at drop off, we will be putting out all of our old balance bikes and pedal bikes. They are all in perfect working condition. If you would like one for your child you are welcome to take one from the playground.

A quick reminder- please do not park in the lane next to the school, in the cemetery or by the village hall during drop off and pick up times. This is for the safety of all of our families.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Collective Worship- Picture News

Each week the children discuss something which is happening in the world. This week it was all about Special Buildings.

The children were shown a picture of a special building in Sweden.

A church in Kiruna, which is one of Sweden’s largest wooden buildings, has been carefully moved 5km to a new location. Many buildings in the city are being relocated because the ground is unstable due to iron ore mining. The church, built in 1912 and voted Sweden’s most beautiful pre-1950 building, was slowly transported on special trailers. The process was watched by thousands of people.

Things to discuss with your child at home

Why do you think the decision was made to move the church whole, rather than dismantle and rebuild it? Are there any well-known buildings in your local area? What is their purpose? What buildings are important to you? What is it about them that makes them important?

School Values Award

Congratulations to Charlie for getting a values certificate this week. If you feel your child has demonstrated one of our three school values, Love, Courage or Respect this half term, at home or when out and about please email the office and let us know all about it and I will celebrate it at school.

Your child can be awarded as many Values certificates as you like throughout the year.

Values certificates are presented to children every Friday during celebration worship.
