Head Teacher- Mrs Burden

I hope all Catherington families had a wonderful half term break.

This half term is a short one, being only 5 weeks long, but there is a lot to pack in! The focus for collective worship is Responsibility. The children will be learning the importance of taking responsibility for their actions, managing their emotions and the responsibilities they may have at home as well as school.

There has been an increase in parents wanting to speak to class teachers this week about their children's behaviour at home. Teachers will always want to help but please do remember that the Wellbeing meetings for parents, led by Miss Watts and Mrs White, will also give you lots of ideas and support. You can also contact the school nurse for support on the following number 0300 003 0135.

This half terms focus for song of the week is the Backstreet Boys.

Congratulations to the children below who won the library poster competition. A huge thank you to all children who entered the competition, it was very difficult to choose the winners. All the posters will be in the library very soon.

Book of the month

‘Everyone loved Gretel.

She was gentle and kind.

She was strong and understanding.

And she told the best bedtime stories…

We love you, Gretel the Wonder Mammoth!’

One Tuesday morning, a loud CRACK sounds, and Gretel, the last mammoth on earth, breaks free from the ice! As she settles into her exciting new life, Gretel starts to feel overwhelmed and a little bit lonely…

This positive picture book teaches us that perhaps the bravest thing a person (or mammoth!) can do is to ask for help.
