Book of the month

When a Dragon Goes to School by Caryl Hart

‘A dragon hands the paper out.

She doesn’t make a mess or shout,

She counts the pencils – one, two, three,

Then draws a rainbow carefully

And paints it red and green and blue.

All dragons LOVE bright things – do you?’

What would a dragon be like on their first day at school? Would they sit in a corner all alone, or try to make new friends? Would they keep all of the best toys or try their best to share?

This charming picture book gives us the answer to these questions and more, as we follow a dragon on her very first day at a new school. Whether your child is taking their first steps in their learning journey or making a fresh start in a new year group, this is a fun reminder of how we can all make the most of our time at school.

During the summer holidays the oven in year ones mud kitchen at the front of the school was stolen! The year one children now do not have an oven to play with during adventure time.

If you know of anyone who is getting rid of their oven and would like to donate it to year one, we would be extremely grateful.

Collective Worship

This half-term our theme for collective worship is Love and Respect.

The children will be learning about our values puppet 'Loving Luke' who teaches them the bible story of the lost sheep and Respectful Rufus who teaches them about the story of Jesus at the temple.

School Values Award

If you feel your child has demonstrated one of our three school values, Love, Courage or Respect this half term, at home or when out and about please email the office and let us know all about it and I will celebrate it at school.

Your child can be awarded as many Values certificates as you like throughout the year.

Values certificates are presented to children every Friday during celebration worship.
