Head Teacher- Mrs Burden

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It has been lovely to see the children settling back in to school this week. I hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas break. It was even more exciting on Tuesday returning to school with a little snow on the ground!

This week our Planet Protectors have been busy learning about the importance of not wasting water.

Also this week our Wellbeing Leads were chosen and they will begin their training soon to help other children on the playground during lunchtimes and playtimes. Congratulations to those children who were chosen.

Year 1 enjoyed lighting a fire and playing on the new trim trail during forest school this week. Thank you to their parents for ensuring they were well dressed well for the chilly weather.

Don't forget the Year R writing workshop next Monday at 9am.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

We Are Together by Britta Teckentrup

‘On our own we’re special,

And we can chase our dream.

But when we join up, hand in hand,

Together we’re a team.’

As a new year begins, we’re starting to think about what goals we want to set for ourselves and how we can achieve them. This book is a great way to remind ourselves that we are all strong, special and capable of amazing things – especially if we work together and help each other out.

Not only is the message powerful, but the illustrations are beautiful, too. Each page even has a fun little cut-out to peek through as you read!

Collective Worship

The focus for collective worship this half-term is Truthfulness. The children will be learning the importance of telling the truth even when they may have made the wrong choices. They will be hearing the story of Joseph and his brothers from the bible and other stories where people in History have stood up for the truth.

Later this term we will be walking to the church for a Christingle service. If any parents know where we may be able to get 90 oranges for the service, at a discounted price, please do let us know.

School Values Award

Well done to Auburn who received a values certificate today. If you feel your child has demonstrated one of our three school values, Love, Courage or Respect this half term, at home or when out and about please email the office and let us know all about it and I will celebrate it at school.

Your child can be awarded as many Values certificates as you like throughout the year.

Values certificates are presented to children every Friday during celebration worship.
