Year 2 Forest school fun this week!

Year 2 used a Bow saw this week to saw some Hazel wood. They also had fun building dens for small cuddly toys and making faces from clay and natural materials they found on the ground.

A few reminders

- Children should not be bringing toys from home to school unless this has been discussed with a member of staff

- Water bottles should only contain water unless there is a medical reason for something other than water.

- Children still go outside when the weather is bad so they must bring a warm coat to school.

- If your child is doing forest school please ensure they have a warm coat at school and are wearing plenty of layers.

- The cemetery should not be used for parking at drop off or pick up times. There was an incident yesterday where a parent in their car nearly hit a child as they were coming out of the school gates. Please only park in the church car park, at the end of the pub car park or in the public car park across the road from the school.

PTA NEWS

  • Shopping day donations - We are now collecting shopping day donations for the children to buy at £1 a gift (Max 5 people). These can be simple things like unwanted unused items like toiletries, candles, games.
  • Jar tombola - If you do not have a spare jar at home, we have a stock of Jars available from the office. We kindly ask that you fill the jar for our tombola. This can be anything you have spare at home, in the past we have had, jars of sweets, Lego, stickers, party bag stuffers etc.
  • Festive clothing sale - On 27th November, we have our annual clothing sale ahead of Christmas jumper day. If you have any festive clothing, jumpers, pj's etc, please consider donating this to school via the office and the PTA will be out in the playground selling this afterschool.

We have been made aware of a pop-up that is appearing on Roblox, encouraging children to download an app called pollybuzz (or pollyfuzz in some spelling cases). The app seems quite simple where children are asked questions, and it generates an Artificial Intelligence ‘friend’ – this starts off quite innocently but then begins to show extreme content (including suicide, self-harm and pornography). It may be helpful to remind children about not clicking on pop-ups in games and to report anything that is worrying or inappropriate to a trusted adult. Roblox has parental controls and instructions of how to put these on can be accessed via this link:

Parental Controls Overview – Roblox Support .

Parental controls will stop some pop-ups, but not all, so appropriate supervision is still required.

School Values Award

Well done to Leah and Isabelle.

who received a values certificate today. If you feel your child has demonstrated one of our three school values, Love, Courage or Respect this half term, at home or when out and about please email the office and let us know all about it and I will celebrate it at school.

Your child can be awarded as many Values certificates as you like throughout the year.

Values certificates are presented to children every Friday during celebration worship.
