What a super busy week we have had!
It started with the children wearing odd socks to mark Anti-bullying week and to remind them that its great to be different. They have been learning about bullying throughout the week, what it is and who to talk to if they feel they are being bullied.
On Tuesday it was lovely to see so many children coming to school in their Rainbows, Squirrels, Beavers and Girls Brigade uniforms. At 11am all children across the school met in the hall to observe 2 minutes silence and remember the courageous soldiers in the war.
On Wednesday each class celebrated 'Interfaith week'. The theme for the day was 'Community'- Serving together as one. They learnt about other religions such as Hindu faith, Jewish and Islam faith. The children in year 1 and R met some puppets from these religions and were able to ask questions about their faith. In Year 2 the children wrote a poem about why community is important and these will be entered into a competition for prizes! They also reflected on how we could help the community and why it is important.
On Thursday some year 1 and 2 children had a wonderful sports morning at Horndean Technology college. They were joined by other children from local infant schools to take part in some fun activities. The children showed so much Love and Respect to others and courage when trying new things.
On Friday we supported Children in Need by dressing in our own clothes and donating £1. During the day the children learnt the importance of helping others who aren't as lucky as they are. We raised £79!
Many thanks to Auburn's dad who has built our new reading shed on the playground this week. We really appreciate you giving up your time.
Next week work will start on the field on our new trim trail. Huge thanks to the PTA for securing the funding for this project. Watch this space for updates as the project progresses.
Have a fabulous weekend everyone, I think the children will need lots of rest this weekend after such a busy week at school.
