A week full of Christmas fun!
Have a lovely Christmas holiday everyone 🎄🥰
CHRISTMAS PARTY FUN
Christmas dinner day
Watching the Kings theatre pantomime and eating popcorn!
This week we have been learning about why Christians celebrate Christmas. We found out that Jesus was born at Christmas and that when he grew up he was a very important person to Christians. We watched this video about the story of Jesus’ birth and listened to beautiful carols.
We had great fun Christmas shopping for our families. We hope you enjoy the presents we have chosen for you. Thank you to everyone who helped us.
We have been playing outside a lot this week.
Some of us had great fun trying to use a hula hoop.
Its beginnng to look a lot like Christmas in Dolphin class!🎄
We decorated our role play areas with lots of tinsel and decorations.
In Maths we continued with the Christmas theme and measured out different paper to make Christmas trees. We also practiced our number recognition by colouring in Christmas pictures.
One of our challenges in Discovery time was to make Christmas playdough biscuits. We are hoping to make some real ones just before Christmas.
Also this week we learnt about a school in Uganda we are twinned with. We saw pictures of the children there and learnt about their school. We are sending them a picture of us and we have asked them some questions about what their school is like. Watch out for my updates after Christmas.
This week we have been learning about the Hindu Festival of Divali (the festival of light) We found out how they celebrate this festival and made our own Diva lamps. We also had a go at making our own Rangoli patterns using chalk.
In our outdoor area we have set up a new cafe. We love playing in there.
This week was Anti-bullying week. On Monday we wore odd socks to school. We talked about how it’s good to be different!
In Outdoor explorers we collected lots of leaves and made some lovely hedgehog pictures.
This half term we are doing p.e outside. We have been having fun with beanbags, throwing and catching and balancing them on our bodies.
On rememberance day this week we learnt about why remember the brave men who showed courage in the war. We showed them respect and love by being silent for 2 minutes. We also learnt about why we wear poppies on rememberance day. We watched the rememberance video on CBeebies to help us and made our own poppies.
In outdoor explorers we looked for the different colours of Autumn. We found things which were red, green, yellow and orange.
This week we made some shadow puppets in discovery time.
In guided reading we have been learning to work independently when not reading a group. All the adults are very proud of how hard we work on the jobs we are given.
We have had a great week back together. The children have settled really well and are enjoying our new topic of light and dark.
It’s lovely being back together with our friends, we have all missed each other.
During outdoor explorers we learnt all about Bonfire Night and Guy Fawkes. We thought about fireworks and how to be safe and we talked about how loud fireworks are. We realised that some animals might not like the loud noises so we decided to make special homes for them so they can hide from the noise. The field was really covered in leaves so we used the leaves to make leaf houses for the hedgehogs.
The guinea pigs came to stay with us again this week. We love when they visit.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
